Our Process

Above all, you should know that besides being an attorney I am also a person, and legal matters are about people dealing with people. Our process is simple: when you initiate contact and call and leave a message, email me, or use this website to contact me, I will get back to you very quickly, hopefully on the same day, depending on the day’s caseloads and court appearances.

  1. When we meet, we will discuss your case, confidentially and in detail, during our initial conversation.

  2. Please note that our first meeting is free of charge.

  3. If we decide to engage each other, we will sign a fee agreement or a fee disclosure.

  4. For family law cases, we will require you to deposit money to go toward fees and costs for your case. This deposit will go into a trust account.  As we work on your case, we will bill against the deposit in the trust account and provide you with itemized statements showing specifically the work done and costs incurred.

  5. For workers’ compensation cases, your attorney’s fees will be charged when you are awarded any monetary benefits that we help you with.

Fees are payments for legal services.  Fees also include payments for paralegal services. Costs are expenses that need to be paid such as court fees, hiring a process server to serve the other party, expert fees if needed, and other expenses that are “out of pocket” payments to other persons or institutions.
